Flexible adaptation to energy and installation space requirements with certified LFP technology for maximum operational reliability
Handtmann Systemtechnik GmbH & Co. KG in Biberach an der Riss is presenting its new modular battery system, which is ideal for demanding applications in the field of e-mobility. The cell modules are based on lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cell technology and are characterized by high efficiency and safety in a compact design. The liquid-cooled battery system is flexibly scalable to meet individual energy and power requirements. It enables configurations of several megawatt hours with voltage options of up to 1000 volts. This modular solution can be used in both the automotive and non-automotive sectors and is particularly suitable for construction machinery, commercial vehicles and marine applications as well as stationary energy storage systems with high storage requirements.
From development to mass production, Handtmann Systemtechnik solves customers’ individual storage challenges – quickly, service-oriented and with many years of practical experience. The full-service supplier has also been testing its batteries on its in-house test bench in Biberach since the middle of the year. “When we developed this battery system, our focus was on the simple combination of different system configurations,” says Markus Michelberger, Business Development Manager at Handtmann. The battery modules have a capacity of 13 kilowatt hours and can be used individually or combined to form battery sets with several megawatt hours. It is possible to connect up to 56 battery boxes – seven in series and eight in parallel. Individual configurations with up to 16 master boxes and a maximum capacity of 1.34 megawatt hours can be realized. A minimum system consists of one master box and two battery boxes. Thanks to flexible adaptation to the installation space and performance requirements of the customer, including voltage options of up to 1000 volts DC, Handtmann battery modules guarantee maximum flexibility.
Highest safety standards thanks to innovative LFP technology
The modular battery system meets the highest safety standards and is certified in accordance with the UN ECE R100 regulation within the European Union. It has been tested for resistance to vibrations, fluctuating temperatures, cycle stability and mechanical integrity, protection against external short circuits, overcharging and excessive discharge. An integrated safety concept includes a safety box that ensures maximum safety through continuous monitoring at cell, module and string level. The LFP battery cells will not ignite in the event of thermal runaway, short circuit or mechanical damage, making Handtmann’s modular battery concept a safe, reliable and robust solution for use in demanding environments.
