At this year’s Battery Show Europe, Handtmann Systemtechnik GmbH & Co. KG will be presenting a comprehensive portfolio of battery systems that address the most diverse requirements of sustainable mobility. The battery experts will be presenting their modular battery system for high-voltage applications, the prototype of a newly developed low-voltage battery for in-vehicle applications and a high-performance hybrid battery for demanding drive profiles. The trade fair presentation will be complemented by a battery housing manufactured using megacasting process and a heat pump module based on the refrigerant R290 for integration into an overall thermal system at vehicle level. The common denominator of all exhibits is the flexible and economical use in different vehicle and application classes. For more than 20 years, the mobility professionals have been developing and industrializing system solutions for various drive types together with their customers.
Modular battery system – scalable, robust and powerful
The modular battery system based on lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cell technology is liquid-cooled, modular and flexibly scalable – depending on energy and power requirements. It allows voltage options of up to 1,000 volts and capacities of several megawatt hours. An integrated safety concept provides reliable protection against thermal risks, overcharging or short circuits – even under harsh operating conditions such as in commercial vehicles, off-highway applications, maritime systems or stationary storage solutions with high energy requirements. The system also meets the strict requirements of ECE R100 certification. Series production is scheduled to start at the beginning of 2026.
Low-voltage battery – stable, compact and fast-charging
Another focus of the trade fair will be the new low-voltage battery. The product concept originates from a development cooperation with EJOT SE & Co. KG and Whitemark Technology GmbH. The self-sufficient storage solution was specially developed for use in forklift trucks as well as tractor, lift and platform trucks with limited installation space. The battery, which is based on LFP technology, works with voltages of up to 80 volts and impresses with its short charging times, high cycle stability and long service life. An integrated oil cooling system with direct cell circulation ensures constant temperatures even during fast charging. The aim is a maintenance-free system that can be charged up to 80 percent within 12 minutes – including intermediate charges during operation. This reduces downtimes, simplifies the infrastructure and lowers the total cost of ownership (TCO).
High-performance hybrid battery: maximum power and energy density
Visitors to the trade fair can also take a look at the high-performance hybrid battery from Handtmann Systemtechnik. This powerhouse offers up to 300 kilowatts of power and 800 volts of voltage in a compact space. The in-house developed battery uses 21700 cells and is designed for applications with high continuous loads – ideal for hybrid drives in the automotive sector in combination with fuel cells, for example.
The trade fair presentation is rounded off by two further developments. Handtmann Systemtechnik will be presenting a battery housing for traction applications. The component, which is approximately two meters in size and manufactured by sister company Albert Handtmann Metallgusswerk GmbH & Co. KG using the megacasting process, a specially developed cooling system ensures optimum temperature control. Visitors to the trade fair will also get a first glimpse of the new heat pump module. This is designed for integration into a holistic thermal system at vehicle level and is operated with the environmentally friendly and highly efficient refrigerant R290 (propane).
